Advance check-in – the fast track to your flight
The end of May and the beginning of June are busy periods at airports. To avoid the queues and speed up your flight preparations, you should always check in for scheduled flights in advance.
“We recommend using Finnair's online or text message check-in service or the self-service check-in kiosks at the airport. They speed up your passage through the airport considerably,” says Finnair's Customer Experience Development Manager, Markku Remes.
You can use the check-in kiosks at the airport even if you are carrying special items, such as sports equipment. At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, the check-in kiosks for scheduled international flights are located in Terminal 2, departure halls 2 and 3.
You can check in online as early as 36 hours before your flight for all Finnair and Finncomm Airlines scheduled domestic and international flights at www.finnair.fi . If you are flying on an international flight and did not reserve a seat at the time of booking, you can also choose your seat when checking in. You can also use the online check-in for your return flight from most destinations.
Finnair Plus members can check in via text message by replying to the service message sent by Finnair. You can activate the service online or by contacting the Finnair Plus Service Center. If you have checked in your baggage in advance, you need to leave it at the Baggage Drop desk at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport before proceeding to security control.
You should give your mobile phone number whenever you book a Finnair flight. This allows us to keep you informed automatically about any flight or baggage delays.
At Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, you can check in for early morning flights on the evening prior to departure between 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm. One member of the family can bring the baggage for the whole family, provided that he or she also brings along all tickets and his or her own travel documents. This saves time on the morning of the flight since the whole family can go straight to security control.
Passengers should arrive at the airport well before the scheduled departure time of their flight, especially during busy holiday periods.
